Beginner Tips for a Succesful Kundalini Yoga Practice
Allow yourself the opportunity to truly show up.
You may be recovering from an abusive relationship, a toxic work environment, an addiction, or challenging time.. Or you may be currently coping with one of these things. Whatever is weighing on your heart or mind, it’s okay.
One of the things that makes this practice so effective is that it meets you where you are…. however you are. You don’t have to attain some ideal in order to engage and really benefit from this practice. And, the longer you practice you will gradually build more inner resources that you can rely on during stressful situations.
Respect the power of the practice
Spiritual practices are powerful tools and they have to be approached with sincerity.. and reverence. If you are true to it it will be true to you.
Commit to your truth
You should have dedicated time for self-care and renewal.. there will always be time for busy work. Remind yourself that it’s not the length of time that matters most.. it’s the simple initiative every day that builds habits. It takes more energy to think of practicing than it does to practice.
Allow the process to unfold.
Healing isn’t a linear process. The journey of healing is a process of transformation that happens organically. Approaching your journey with curiosity asks that you soften your heart.. let go of expectations and have compassion for yourself. Everything in your life unfolds exactly at the “right time”. This journey is designed uniquely for you.
Your conflicts, all the difficult things, the problematic situations in your life are not chance or haphazard. They are actually yours. They are specifically yours, designed specifically for you by a part of you that loves you more than anything else. The part of you that loves you more than anything else has created roadblocks to lead you to yourself. You are not going in the right direction unless there is something pricking you in the side, telling you, “Look here! This way!” That part of you loves you so much that it doesn’t want you to lose the chance. It will go to extreme measures to wake you up, it will make you suffer greatly if you don’t listen. What else can it do? That is its purpose. A.H. Almaas
